What made you decide to become a reserve police officer? Why then? I’ve spent much of my career researching and writing about the relationship between law, violence and the stories people tell themselves and one another about law and violence. Policing in the U.S. is a stunningly violent enterprise, and when I learned about the D.C. police reserve corps, it seemed to me that joining it would be a fascinating way to better understand why American policing is the way it is....

Before being thrown in to the galaxy-spanning war, new players are given the opportunity to customize their mercenary. After designing their characters, players are then deposited into their own personal Merc Quarters, an instanced room only accessible by its owner. Inside the Merc Quarters, players have control of their avatar from a third-person perspective. Within the room, there are several machines to interact with: the Battle Finder, Character Sheet, Dropsuit Fitting, Vehicle Fitting, and Marketplace....

However, if there’s one overwhelmingly positive quality about the game it’s that Dying Light always kept its sense of humor. It’s wholly evident while playing the game, but is becoming clearer as players uncover more playful secrets and Easter Eggs within the new release. From an EXPcalibur sword to a parody of Destiny’s loot cave, Dying Light has so far offered up some pretty fun Easter Eggs. This latest one, though, is arguably the best we’ve seen yet....

There was plenty of excitement for Dying Light, though. Techland was yet again stepping into the zombie apocalypse, this time incorporating Mirror’s Edge-style parkour elements. Unfortunately, news regarding the horror title has not always been positive. Dying Light was one of a number of titles hit with long delays in 2014, with further delays announced for the international release of the game. The title was also initially meant to release on both new- and last-gen consoles, but Techland then revealed that Dying Light was to skip a PS3 and Xbox 360 release....

In previous seasons, episodes of Dynasty were released the following morning in international territories after first airing on The CW, but this was not the case with Season 3. But while promoting the film this week, Blomkamp was asked about his feelings toward a potential Halo film; whether it was something he still wishes he could direct, or if his work since had scratched that same itch. His response will certainly offer hope for those who still dream of him landing the job, but his major reservations are the same as they ever were. It’s not hard to understand why Microsoft and 343 Industries aren’t in a hurry to simply hand over the reins of a Halo film to any studio writer, director, and producers....

What happened at the end of Empire? By the closing minutes of the Empire series finale, titled “Home is On The Way,” two characters had died, and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and Lucious (Terrence Howard) had reunited. This reunion began at the start of the episode where they team up in their business lives to fire Pamplemousse employees Kelly (Pej Vahdat) and Giselle (Nicole Ari Parker) to regain control of the Lyon family music empire....

There are a number of warning signs, however, that Endeavour Season 8 will be the final set of episodes from the show, which airs as part of PBS’s Masterpiece strand of British dramas. Originally, according to an interview with Endeavour showrunner Russell Lewis, the plan was to end the show in the late 1960s, but Season 8 will be set in 1971. The writer told Digital Spy in 2019: “If there’s an appetite to see Endeavour in the early ’70s – if the audience are keen, and the network are keen, and the guys want to do it, then yeah, absolutely [we’d do it]....

British media reflected Thursday on England’s heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Croatia in the World Cup semi-finals, praising manager Gareth Southgate and his young team despite their exit. Jeff Younger has been campaigning against gender-affirming treatments for children and was invited to speak at an event organized by a conservative group of students at the University of North Texas. The anti-trans Republican, who lost custody of his trans child, was badgered by LGBTQ protesters and forced to end his appearance early. If there’s one area in which BioWare has managed to distinguish their Dragon Age series, it’s building a fictional world overflowing with rich history. Obviously that’s something they hope to continue with Dragon Age: Inquisition, and information on the new locations set to be unveiled in the team’s largest open world thus far is coming quickly. The latest screenshots put the Fortress of Adamant into the spotlight, and hint that the former Grey Warden stronghold will play a pivotal role in the Inquisitor’s journey....

Dragon Age 2 is going to be in many gaming consoles and computers in under a month, so BioWare thought it all well and good to release the achievement list for the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins. 50 total achievements, 5 of them secret, and adding up to the standard of 1000 achievement points. Beware, though, the achievement list will contain minor spoilers and if you want the achievements to be as fresh as the game when you first play it, you may want to skip it....

Following Kefla’s introduction in Dragon Ball FighterZ, Bandai Namco announced Goku in his Ultra Instinct form will be the next DLC fighter. While the general release of the character is happening later this week, those who purchased the Fighter’s Pass will get to play as the new fighter two days early. And while this is the fourth different Goku in the game already–following Super Saiyan, Base, GT and Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan–from the looks of the character’s gameplay trailer Ultra Instinct will have a more unique play style....
