It was widely expected that Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two would be unveiled at an “epic event” next week, at which point we would discover if the rumors of multiplatform support and co-op gameplay proved true. No need to wait, now – all of that has been confirmed.

Spector opened up about The Power of Two in an interview with the Associated Press.

While Mickey will continue to wield his magical paint brush from the first game, Oswald favors a remote control that uses the power of electricity.

Spector has previously spoken about the mistake of not including fully voiced characters in the original Epic Mickey. Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two rights that wrong and goes one step further by including musical numbers written by Jim Dooley and Mike Himelstein (Dorothy of Oz).

In the original game, Mickey could choose to use thinner to destroy his enemies or paint to convert them into allies, which had an impact on how the denizens of Wasteland reacted to him. A similar mechanic is in play with The Power of Two’s musical numbers and score, which will change based on Mickey’s actions. Speaking of Wasteland, it returns as the setting for Epic Mickey 2. Mickey and Oswald will revisit some areas from the first game, though there will be plenty of new stages, too.

Finally, Spector addressed the biggest complaint from the first game: its camera.

A camera that never needs to be adjusted? It’ll really be something if the team at Junction Point Studios can pull that one off!

Based on what Spector has to say, it sounds like Epic Mickey 2 will address all of the original game’s shortcomings. One thing Spector hasn’t covered, however, is the rumored 3DS edition of the game, Power of Illusion. Perhaps that game will still be unveiled next week and will turn out to be entirely different from Power of Two. On the other hand, it could be that there is nothing to unveil, and the rumor is false.

Either way, there are plenty of Epic Mickey 2 questions left to answer (Will there be full length cartoons hidden in the game? Will gremlin Gus return? Will a save from the original game affect events in the sequel?) Spector will be on tomorrow night’s episode of GTTV to talk more about the game. In a tweet, host Geoff Keighley lays out what’s in store.

Ranters, are you looking forward to Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two? What do you think about the inclusion of musical numbers? What platform do you plan play on?

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is due this Fall for Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
